At long last, we'll get to have an insight into the mysterious man behind the iMps. HE who works his influence and expertise upon the team in the cover of darkness with an evil smile plastered upon his face. HE is rarely ever seen in public much less in private but nonetheless, the impact of his deeds are greatly felt everywhere. HE is none other than the infamous:

Here is a quick interview we did with him:

How long have you been coaching/managing teams in this scene?
Check: I started reaching my aims about 7 years ago, but I only had 4 years of team management experience so far.

So, you started at a very young age?
Check: Yup, I had interest in this scene when I was in the Secondary school days. Its the local Warcraft 3 scene which made spark my interest.

What are the factors (both internal and external) that got you into this profession.
Check: Determination and Passion. To reach to the current point i'm in, i kept facing many upsets which almost leading me to giving up the dream. I'm glad i'm stubborn enough to endure it hahaha! More so, lacking of pre-requisites like, funds and support which is very important to get a foothold in this industry, makes the journey so much tougher.

What joy do you obtain being in this line of career?
Check: when hardship becomes fruitful and the Gamers are ready to be role models in positive aspects for people to look up to and learn from, then sense of achievement and joy will come in.

What made you want to be a part of SCOGA?
Check: After meeting with Nicholas, Chairman and Co-founder of SCOGA, I understand the direction they are heading to and understand their strength of making things possible. The past they did many examples such as raising funds for the WCG winners to fly for their finals which makes me feel that things they do, are for the people even if it’s at the cost of spending manpower and time without making any equal profit to cover the lost. I’m inspired by their spirit and decided to join the family to further upgrade myself on the areas they have and i don't.

How did you come up with the design of Impunity logo and the production of the team t-shirts?
Check: The idea came out from the word “IMP”. It sparks an idea to create not only a logo as a common identity but also emblems for each individual. Whereas the production of the team t-shirt, I only took part on planning the placement for the logo and emblem but without the sponsorship of Lenovo, the production of the t-shirt will not be completed.

Why did you choose Colosseum as a training venue?
Check: there are many factors coming to this decision. The location is pretty much central for everyone to gather. The choice of food in Iluma or at the vicinity is great. Ranging from hawker to restaurants. In Colosseum, the computers are amazing. They provide gaming equipments and they even take care of the comfort of gamers with their comfortable chairs. Cleanliness is well taken care of and the staffs are friendly. The huge projector screen and the number of teams training there build a nice training ground atmosphere.

Why do you think that our local scene is lackluster compared other countries
Check: The support of the local people! Here, we always blame on why there are no events to promote the game but in fact, the ones making the events don’t see that there might be responds out there. If they are going to make an event without knowing there might be people coming, it’s their money and time they are wasting. If we cheer for the games and our gamers as much as the Korean does, what else can’t happen?

What do you think are the major issues that are halting the growth of the esports scene?
Check: we are never lack of talented gamers but support. Support from the audience, companies, organizations and most importantly, the government. Without these voices, things won’t shine.

What would you do to bring the esport scene to a higher level?
Check: I myself have no power to make a difference but all I could do is to is to shape and guide the willing gamers properly. They are the one who will have more power to make a difference in the scene for near future.

Any memorable gaming scenes/moments during your career?
Check: There was a team where I spend a short 1 month time with them and at the end of our contract, I receive a handmade journal with drawings and hand written words showing how they felt each day with me around from being their torment to mentor. Didn't expect it came out really well decorated.

Any person that you look up upon to in the esport scene.
Check: There’s too many to name in and out of our country. I’ll name as few locally. They are Nicholas and Kelvin from SCOGA. They are always there when the team and I needs stuffs or support. When the team flew for Shanghai expo, they are even there to send and receive the guys. Without them, there won’t be the training venue, sponsored stuffs and exposure. Last but not least, to my buddies, Benson and Edmond who aid me so much along this road.

Any other interests/hobbies that you have besides your job?
Check: Photography, table tennis, archery and catching up with friends.

Taken a liking to a particular cuisine?
Check: I enjoy Japanese food a lot. Ramen and Shabu Shabu are my favorites.

How do you balance between your workload and personal life?
Check: hmm… people who are closer to me knows me as an workaholic so normally I place work as my priority 6 days a week and I’ll ensure Sunday is a free day for my love ones.
